It might sound crazy, but yes, we believe in social media breaks every now and then.

Of course, how often you take them depends on your needs and goals.

You might take weekends or holidays off, maybe you don’t like to post while you’re on a family vacation, sometimes you just fall off and need to get back on... Whatever the circumstances, we understand the need to take a social detox now and again.

In fact, Jasmine takes two social media breaks every year and always comes back refreshed and rejuvenated!

How to keep your social skills strong while you take a break:

  1. Let your audience know you’ll be taking a break: if you’re planning a social break that’s longer than a few days, you might want to let your audience know. While you don’t have to give explanations of where you’re going or why a heads up that you’ll be away for a bit never hurts!

  2. Take notes: Just because you’re taking a temporary break doesn’t mean you won’t have some great ideas! Sometimes stepping away is just what you need to get those creative juices flowing. So keep something handy to take notes should a content idea strike you when you least expect it!

  3. Schedule posts: If you have a hard time stepping away because you don’t want to lose the momentum you’ve built, schedule a few posts in your absence. If that gives you peace of mind, it’s better to have a few posts on auto-pilot than to not take advantage of your temporary break.

Once you’re ready to get back to your regular posting schedule, pick up where you left off! Don’t stress or obsess over performance or insights. Get back to serving your audience and doing what you do best in your business (and on social).
