As your AI social media manager, Dottie is ready to help you create the best possible social media copy for your business. In order to ensure she has all the information she needs to do so, you’ll want to make sure you’ve given HER specific information about you and your business.

(The more clear and specific you can be, the better she’ll be able to write your copy!)

How do you do that? You update your profile! You can watch our tutorial >>HERE< or follow the steps below to do so:

How to Locate Your Profile

If you’re using your desktop:

1. Click “New Post” on the left sidebar to open up Dottie

2. Click the gear button on the top right to open up your profile.

If you’re using the iOS app:

1. Tap the person icon on the top right

2. Tap “Profile” to update your occupation (more on this below)

3. Tap “Business/Brand” to update the remainder of your profile (more on this below)

How to Update Your Profile:

Once you find your profile, you’ll want to review it to ensure Dottie has the most up-to-date and specific information about you and your business. Keep reading to learn how to fill out each question in your profile:

Occupation (What do you call yourself/work as?)

The more specific you can be here, the better Dottie will be able to write for you.

For example, instead of typing “photographer,” consider something like: Brand Photographer for Small Business Owners.

Find more examples of occupations for various industries below!

Business/Brand Name (What is the name of your business/brand)?

Type the name of your business here - whether it’s Sally Smith Consulting or Ironsmith Coffee, make sure Dottie knows the name of your business!

Target audience age(s)

Your product/service might be FOR everyone… but when you market to everyone, no one listens. (Just think: the way you would talk to a 20-something about your product is likely far different from the way you would talk to a 60-something). You can learn more about the importance of getting clear on your ideal client >>HERE<<.

Do your best to choose ONE age range from the dropdown box - this will help Dottie nail the tone of your copy!

Target audience gender(s)

Again, your product/service can likely be used by both men and women - but who tends to pull out the credit card to pay? Select that gender here.

Target audience occupations(s)

What terms would you use to talk to your ideal client? Would you call them brides? Stay at home moms? High achieving corporate executives? Hustlers? Empty nesters? Type 1-2 of these terms in the box.

Click >>HERE<< for a short video walkthrough of how to update your profile and how it makes a difference in the types of captions Dottie writes!

Voice(s) (How do you want your copy to sound)?

Here is where you’ll want to tell Dottie the tone of your copy. If you’re unsure what your tone is, think about having an in-person conversation with your ideal client or customer. What would your tone sound like? Warm? Direct? Educational? Choose at least 3-4 voices from the dropdown list (or type your own).

💡Pro tip: Have inspiration from something you’ve written or someone else you want to sound just like? Paste it into Dottie and ask her “what tone of voice is this?”. Watch this in action >>HERE<<
